Ph.D.The East Asian (EA) region, home to more than a billion people, is particularly vulnerable to hydrological extremes, due to its large population as well as rapid economic developments in recent decades. El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is widely recognized as the most important driver of EA rainfall variations on the interannual timescale.
