Osteoarthritis (OA) is a debilitating disease affecting joints and impairing the ability to perform everyday tasks. Current treatment regimens tend to provide little to no relief. Therefore, there is a huge need for alternative strategies to manage this painful condition. The delivery of anti-inflammatory drugs into an injured joint with the aim of eliminating articular inflammation and modulate cartilage damage could be a useful strategy to treat OA.
