Hamasen's historic landscape changes under the urban development：The case of square #3 dispute

Hamasen, nineteenth century, during the Japanese governance, the Kaohsiung Sea Reclamation was born. It was the most prosperous town in Kaohsiung. But in recent years the rise of the tourism industry, the government hopes to enhance its value by the urban renewal, then the local residents do not want to over-developed, especially their own homes will face dismantle dispute. Therefore the government is positive development of tourism, Gushan District nearby Cijin District, has worthy of development. After Kaohsiung MRT opening, the proposals of urban renewal are put forward everywhere. However, it has no effective investment existed to now. And the issue of cultural assets has attracted increasing attention. How to retain the old culture while the urban development forming to the urban regeneration. Hamasen has facing the challenges of historic landscape problems. This research investigates the question of Kaohsiung Hamasen. Through in depth interview and analysis of related literature to understand the conflicts of landscape space, and discuss the development of tourism for the preservation of historic landscapes is beneficial, or urban renewal caused Hamasen cannot keep the original appearance.
