This study reveals that the ESCRT-I component VPS23A confers salt tolerance by strengthening the SOS module. Under salt stress, VPS23A recruits SOS2 to the membrane and enhances the affinity between SOS2 and SOS3 to enhance SOS1 activity and thus regulate Na/K homeostasis in plants.
