Physical objects with boundaries that are irregular-random shapes---occur in profusion in the natural world. Simple mathematical models for random shapes are described. The models are generated by "adding" a random process to a deterministic shape. Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes are generalized to allow innovation having symmetric stable laws.Prepared for: Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California 93943Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited
