Mike Ananny, Assistant Professor of Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, led a session titled “Fake News: A Challenge for Decision Makers.” The concept of “fake news” rose to prominence during the 2016 presidential election campaign, but the idea is far from new and the term itself is not precise.
