Department of Defense acquisition life-cycle time frames can be improved through the use of technology transfer activities and industry partners, but only if increased rigor is applied to technology transfer processes. The application of systems engineering and systems architecture practices to current and previously described technology transfer methods has been studied in the literature, and new methodologies have been described. The result is an improved technology transfer process that increases knowledge sharing and reduces the risk realized by commercialization partners.
