Law enforcement leaders protect and serve citizens using various enforcement models, such as community policing and evidence-based policing. Another method is the formation of formal partnerships among chiefs and key community stakeholders with the purpose of building public trust and reducing crime. This study aims to answer the question: “How do local law enforcement agencies structure successful partnerships that earn public trust and contribute to crime reduction?” Using six police partnership cases from the extant literature, success factors and barriers were identified that contributed to successful or less than successful police partnerships.
