Objectives: A significant number of scientific articles in peer reviewed journals focus on myocardial protection by comparing cold cristalloid and warm blood cardioplegia in adults. Only few studies have compared both concepts in the context of pediatric heart surgery and their results are contradictory. There is currently no evidence in favor of one or the other technique.
