Background. Depression is a common mental health problem worldwide. Delays in seeking treatment, misdiagnosis, and non-specific treatments are barriers to receiving appropriate care for people with depression. People with an immigrant background are especially vulnerable and are more likely than the majority population to have unmet mental health care needs. The overall aim of this thesis was to explore how specific immigrant groups settled in Norway interpret, view, react, and prefer to cope with symptoms of depression.
