ABSTRACT Dysfunctional parenting has characteristics of the parents who are not involved in their children's lives, giving verbal or physical punishment, having a tendency to riticize or nag in responding to the wrong behavior committed by the children, that type of parenting can have an impact on various behavioral problems for the children. This study aims to reduce “dysfunctional parenting” to help the mother’s cognitive process to better understand parenting right for children by providing interventions in the form of “parenting education” training where this training is based on social learning theory that cognitive process have interrelated relationships with the environment and individual behavior.
