The Correlation Between Smartphone Dependence with Decreased Visual Acuity in University of Muhammadiyah Malang Nursing Students

Background : Smartphones are a technology that is growing rapidly in the present era. Smartphones have a special function to get the latest information so as to make the human lifestyle more practical. So people started switching to using smartphones as a source of information. Smartphone dependency is a distraction in controlling the desire to use smartphones and the inability of individuals to control at the time of use of the smartphone itself. The purpose of this study is to find out if there is a relationship of smartphone dependence with decreased vision sharpness in nursing students of Muhammadiyah University malang Method : This research uses a cross sectional approach that is a type of research to analyze the relationship of smartphone dependence to decreased vision quality in students. The sampling technique to be used is an accidental sampling technique, with a sample of 30 respondents from nursing students from the class of 2016-2019 at Muhammadiyah University Malang. Result : Data analysis test between smartphone dependency relationship with decreased vision sharpness, obtained significance value smaller than α 5% (0.000 < 0.05). So there is a link between smartphone dependence and decreased vision sharpness in nursing students of Muhammadiyah University malang. Conclusion : The more smartphone dependence on students, the higher the incidence of decreased vision sharpness, and vice versa. Thus, there is a link between smartphone dependence and the incidence of decreased vision sharpness in nursing students of Muhammadiyah University malang. Thus, it is expected that students will improve the mechanism of smartphone use so that the incidence of decreased vision sharpness can also be reduced
