The report describes the bird strike testing of full-scale helicopter windshield in a typical 3D shape and a typical structural environment. The objective is to evaluate the improved impact behaviour of a new transparency design. The test articles are the joined windshield and the composite canopy frame in conjunction. These elements are supported by a support frame which is connected to the test cell. The tests were performed on a particular impact point which was given by the customer. The required impact velocity was defined by the project outline and the overall airworthiness requirements for a CS-29 rotorcraft.
