Atherosclerosis and neointima formation considered as chronic inflammatory diseases, in which many cells including inflammatory smooth muscle cell (iSMC) were involved. ISMC differentiation from vascular adventitia stem/progenitor cells (AdSPCs) has been recently recognised as a critical determinant in cardiovascular diseases.
