Nur Effendi, S.Ag, S.S.\ud \ud Sentence is a set of words that is complete in itself, conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command and typically containing a subject and predicate. One of kinds of sentences in English is elliptical sentences. The elliptical sentence is the sentence to express two sentences that having in the same place and time become one sentence without less of the meaning. Position of Elliptical sentences is a sentence holds an important role that will determine whether the sentence are really good meaning – containing sentences\ud Based on the background above the writer conducts a research entitled “Mastery on Elliptical Sentences by The Second Grade Students of State Islamic Junior High School 2 BAS Barabai Academic Year 2007-2008”\ud The problems in this research is how is the student's mastery on elliptical sentences by the second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School 2 BAS Barabai Academic Year 2007-2008 and the factors that influence it.\ud This research purposed to know and describe the student's mastery on elliptical sentences by the second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School 2 BAS Barabai, and the factors that influence it. \ud The subject of this research is 66 second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School 2 BAS Barabai Academic Year 2007-2008 and The object of this research is the mastery on elliptical sentences by the second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School 2 BAS Barabai and the factors that influence it.\ud In collecting data the writer uses some techniques as follows: written test, observation, interview, questioner and documentary. Then, all the data which have been collected are processed through editing and tabulating, and making conclusion by using inductive method.\ud The result of this research shows that the student's mastery on elliptical sentences by the second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School 2 BAS Barabai is in a good category and the influential factor of the student's mastery on elliptical sentences are students’ mastery on tenses, students’ knowledge and understanding about kinds of verb and kinds of sentence
