S.S.\ud \ud \ud This research describes about the mastery of English vocabulary of the eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School Darussalam Awayan District Balangan Regency. The statement of problems in this research are: how is the degree of the mastery of English vocabulary of the eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School Darussalam Awayan and what factors that influence it.\ud The population in this research are all students of the eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School Darussalam Awayan in academic year 2007/2008, which comprise 72 students. \ud In collecting data, the writer uses some techniques; observation, test, questionnaire, interview, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into five phases; editing, coding, scoring, classification, tabulating and data interpretation. All the data are analyzed by using descriptive qualitative and concluded by inductive method.\ud The result of this research indicates that the mastery of English vocabulary of the eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School Darussalam Awayan is in low category with mean 37.25 and the factors that influence it are as follow: students factors; Students have fair interest and have good motivation on English lesson, and they are also active in English learning activity. Teacher factors; teacher’s educational background support very much on English teaching and learning process, the teacher has fair experience in teaching English, and the teacher’s technique in teaching English vocabulary is fair. Facility factors; the school facilities and students facilities are enough in teaching and learning English. Environment factors; family and school environment are fair support on the students’ ability in learning English especially in mastery of English vocabulary
