Pd.\ud Keywords: Question tag, ability, error analysis\ud This research describes the ability in using question tag of eleventh grade students in MA Al-Islamiyah SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin academic year 2012/2013. The statements of problem in this research are how is the students’ ability in using question tag and what are the most students’ common errors in using question tag.\ud The subject of the research is 60 students of the eleventh grade students at MA Al-Islamiyah SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin and the object of this research are the students’ ability in using question tag and the most students’ common errors in using question tag.\ud To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as written test, interview, observation, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into five phases: editing, scoring, classification, tabulating and data interpretation. All the collected and processed data are analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The conclusion is taken inductively.\ud The result of this research indicated that the level of the students’ ability in using question tag is in fair category. It is based on the calculation of mean formula which the result is 65.3. Then, the result of calculation the mean of students’ common errors in using question tag is 34.6. It means it is in low error category. Further, after analyzing each type of test, it is found the students’ errors in using affirmative-negative form are 7 items number with the percentage are 33.3%, the students’ errors in using negative-affirmative form is 1 item number with the percentage are 4.8%, and the writer takes conclusion that the most students’ common errors is in exception form which is the percentage of common errors are 61.9% with the items number of error are 13
