The Analysis of Politeness and Impoliteness Strategies used\ud by Characters in Jack The Giant Slayer Film

The problem formulations of this research are what are the kinds of the\ud politeness and impoliteness strategies used by characters in Jack the Giant Slayer\ud Film and what the kinds of polite and impolite strategies most frequently are used in\ud film of Jack the Giant Slayer. This research aims to determine the kinds of politeness\ud and impoliteness strategies used in the film Jack the Giant Slayer and to find the kind\ud of polite and impolite strategies are most frequently used in the film Jack the Giant\ud Slayer.\ud The subject of this research is characters in film Jack the Giant Slayer. The\ud object of this research is the politeness and impoliteness strategies by main characters\ud in the film Jack the Giant Slayer.\ud To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques, such as watching,\ud comprehending, eliminating, re-checking, and taking evidence. Then, all the data are\ud analyzed descriptively.\ud The result of this research states that the writer found that there are 56\ud utterances politeness and 21 utterances impoliteness that used in the film. In this\ud research, the writer can conclude that all politeness strategies by Leech theory and\ud impoliteness strategies were applied in the film. The writer found out that\ud approbation maxim is the kind of politeness strategy most frequently used in the film.\ud There are 19 approbation maxims. The Moods is the kind of impolite strategy most\ud frequently uses in the film, there are 12 the moods
