The Analysis of Characteristics of Women’s Speech in\ud Pitch Perfect Movie

The problem formulations of this research are what are characteristics of\ud women’s speech in Pitch Perfect Movie, and what are the characteristics of women’s\ud speech most frequently used in Pitch Perfect movie. This research aims to determine\ud characteristics of women’s speech and to find characteristics of women’s speech most\ud frequently used in Pitch Perfect movie.\ud The subject of this research is main of women characters in Pitch Perfect movie.\ud The object of this research is the characteristics of women’s speech by main of\ud women characters in the Pitch Perfect movie. To collect the data, the writer uses\ud some techniques, such as observing(watching), comprehending, eliminating,\ud classifying, re-checking, and taking evidence. Then, all the data are analyzed\ud descriptively.\ud The result of this research is the researcher found 58 characteristics of women’s\ud speech expression that used in the movie. In this research, the writer can conclude\ud characteristics of women’s speech by Lakoff theory were applied in the movie. It are\ud politeness, hedging, tag question, declarative with interrogative intonation, emotional\ud emphasis, extended vocabulary, empty adjectives, correct grammar and pronunciation,\ud direct quotation, and lack of humor. The researcher found out that 16 expressions of\ud politeness are characteristics most frequently used in the movie
