Evolution spontanée des trous maculaires.

We followed up 13 patients with a macular hole. The hole is unilateral in every case and idiopathic in 10 cases. After a mean follow-up of 27 months, the visual acuity is unchanged. On account of our observations and those of several authors, we conclude that there is no justification for treating the idiopathic macular hole nowadays. We recommend frequent examinations of the fellow eye to look for an impending macular hole, which could be benefit from a surgical treatment
