In this article we present the methodology that may be used to demonstrate the effectiveness of neuropsychological treatments conducted with single cases. More specifically, it is suggested that the multiple baseline design introduced by behavioral psychologists for the control of the effect of learning can be adapted to the neuropsychological field providing some specific changes. Two specific constraints are underlined and discussed: the modularity constraint and the strategic constraint. The main characteristics of baseline measurements are also discussed with a specific emphasis on their theoretical relevance with regards to the effect of the treatment
