Mertens and Zamir have proposed the construction of a universal belief space which allows model games with incomplete information. We suggest here an alternative method for constructing such a universal space. Our construction is purely set theoretical and makes use of Aczel's theory of anti-founded sets. We also show that all Mertens and Zamir belief subspaces can be embedded in this alternative universe
