One of the most intriguing issues in the interpretation of the Song of songs is the allocation of the verses to the different characters of the story. This article begins with a study used to assign specific verses either to the feminine protagonist or to the beloved one or to other characters. Then follows a discussion of the passages without any certain assignment. Finally, one cannot but conclude that many uncertainties persist.
