Measurement of the correlation between nuclear alignment and electron direction in /sup 12/B decay as a direct search for the second-class axial-vector current

A novel method involving the Zeeman effect is used to directly measure the alignment correlation term in the beta decay of /sup 12/B, /sup 12/B rarr beta +/sup 12/C. The approach is reminiscent of the direct measurements of the lepton g-factor anomaly.
