Recent progress on new and state of the art electrolytes, active materials and their applications in various configurations has resulted in enormous progress in the field of electrochemical energy storage in general and in the area of rechargeable batteries in particular. However, the focus is now turning towards safety, stability and environmental impact along with improving the energy storage capability while maintaining high power density of electrochemical energy storage systems.
