Dam-break induced waves over mobile beds often generate significant sediment transport that can induce considerable morphological evolution leading to major risks for the surrounding population. To predict and mitigate the dramatic morphological consequences of these fast transient flows, the physical process underlying the sediment transport has to be described with special care. The proposed two-dimensional (2D) two-layer shallow-water description considers an upper layer made of clear water and a lower layer, called the bedload transport layer, made of a dense mixture of water and moving grains.
