Although deep-sea and ice cores show a cool MIS-13 interglacial with low greenhouse gas concentration, proxy records mainly from Asia show a very strong monsoon at that time. LOVECLIM (the Earth Model of Intermediate Complexity of Louvain-la-Neuve) will be used to analyze this paradox. MIS-13 actually shows two main peaks dating approximately 485 kyr BP (MIS-13.11) and 501 kyr BP (MIS-13.13). The model is therefore forced with the appropriate astronomically-induced insolations, greenhouse gas concentrations and ice sheets at 495 kyr BP (northern Hemisphere summer at aphelion) and 506 kyr BP (northern Hemisphere summer at perihelion).
