Both vaccines demonstrate an impressive efficacy profile with a particularly great reduction in hospitalisations for gastro-enteritis. They demonstrate also a reassuring safety profile. With the introduction of rotavirus vaccine, we should expect to see a substantial reduction in direct and indirect costs due to rotavirus infection as well as an effect on mortality in developing countries
