In the past few years, a large body of research has been accumulated on employees’ work engagement and its development. Yet, the influence of perceived organizational support on work engagement has received limited empirical attention. Although some studies have reported a positive relationship between the two constructs, these studies do not focus on the exact nature of this relationship. As a result, a strong theoretical rationale underlying the link between perceived organizational support and work engagement has not been sufficiently developed.
