We present the new results of experimental investigation of a pure twist deformation of nematic liquid crystals induced by homogeneous "in-plane" electric field in the new optical geometry. Analysis of experimental results in the framework of a simple model enabled us to propose a new method for determination of the rotation viscosity coefficient γ<sub>1</sub>
