A new charge pump analysis method is proposed by modeling the fly capacitors using a matrix. Due to its regularity, it is implemented as a CAD tool to analyze any topology in ANTZ tree and NANTZ tree. Analytical results on the conversion ratio and the efficiency obtained by the proposed method are shown to be very close to HSPICE simulated results with errors less than 0.01% and 0.7%, respectively. Optimization is then done by rapidly searching through all the possible topologies generated by the proposed methodology. Using the proposed method, we find a new way of improving the efficiency of on-chip charge pump by flipping the fly capacitors. © 2012 IEEE
