Reflection anisotropy spectroscopy (RAS) is a non-destructive optical probe of surfaces which is widely used in different environments for science research since its development in the late 80’s. For several advantages compared with conventional techniques, RDS provides insight into atomic and electronic structure and morphology of surfaces and interfaces in widely different environments. In this study, we will introduce our micro-Reflectance Difference Spectroscopy (RDS) system from the basic principles of how it works to its typical applications as a magneto-optic microscopic system.
