This thesis cover the process and results of a case study that was made in Kyoto, Japan in 2019. The intention is to produce an example of how cultural heritage preservation in a culturally important garden might be conducted, with focus on knowledge preserving and sharing. Research on cultural heritage in gardens is a relatively new field, and material accessible in English on Japanese preservation efforts is especially scarce. This thesis aims to aid in this issue.
