BACKGROUND: Seafood parasitation by Anisakis (Anisakidae) larvae has been reported in most of the oceans and seas worldwide.The presence of these nematodes in commonly consumed fish represents a potential hazard for consumers as they can provoke gastrointestinal symptoms and allergic reactions.
