Wind shear is the change of wind speed and/or wind direction between two spatial points over a short distance in the atmosphere. Generally, wind shear is not a serious hazard to aircraft flying in normal altitude. However, strong and sudden low-level wind shear around the runway can be fatal for aircraft taking off and landing. Therefore, Low-level Windshear Alert System (LLWAS) was developed to detect this phenomenon. However, LLWAS only use point information around the runway corridor for divergence calculation and comparison of wind speed among sensors.
