Direct-Sequence Code-Division-Multiple-Access (DS-CDMA) is widely used in mobile communications for real-time voice transmission and can support naturally multi-rate traffic with different performance requirements by using different spreading factors and/or different transmit power levels. Packetized data can also be supported when Automatic-Repeat-reQuest (ARQ) scheme is used.
