Content-based image retrieval over wireless networks is a challenging research problem. In this paper, we present an efficient content-based image retrieval framework, which is developed for mobile platforms in client-server architecture and uses a combination of various low-level visual features. Several techniques were adapted in order to achieve the retrieval efficiency and query speed on mobile networks. Particularly a new implementation, which is called Compact Media Retrieval on Progressive Query (CMR-PQ), is introduced. CMR-PQ is basically designed to retrieve the query results in an acceptable time, a network adaptive and configurable scheme.
