This paper presents the preliminary results of a study on composite tube reinforced concrete column. In such a column, the plain concrete was cast inside the prefabricated composite tube with no presence of steel reinforcement Two circular conventional reinforced concrete columns, as reference specimens, and three glass fiber tube columns have been tested under pseudo static loading. The 3-dimension strain and horizontal displacement are measured by rosette strain gauges and LVDTs, respectively, whereas the micro-crack and failure process are monitored by means of acoustic emission (AE).
