The design, fabrication and test results of surface acoustic wave resonators in the GHz range are described. The two different modes of SAW resonators were investigated. They are the Rayleigh mode type resonators and surface transverse wave (STW) mode type resonators. Their frequency behavior with temperature were compared. At the end the applications of the STW resonators in oscillators were studied
