A model-based digital moire technique is presented in this paper. The technique makes use of a computer-generated sinusoidal fringe pattern as the projection grating and spatially parallel phase-shift, as weil as a robust phase unwrapping algorithm for automatic fringe analysis. In addition, the uniform bicubic B-spline patches are utilized to approximate to three-dimensional image reconstructed from the digital moire system in order td establish a mathematical model for raw range-data. The experimental and modeling results of range image and its texture map made with real body components are presented to demonstrate the validity of-the technique
