Abstract

AIM: To isolate and identify the anticancer constituents of Gynostemma pentaphyllum. METHOD: Some chromatographic methods were applied to isolate pure saponins, whose structures were elucidated by using chemical and spectroscopic methods. RESULT: Compound 1 is a new natural product. Saponins 2, 3, 4 and 5 were identified as the known compounds
