"As such, one of the intentions for this exhibition was to acknowledge the diaspora experiences across countries that underwent a major influx of people of colour, as the realities of racialization add a significant dimension to the experience of living in and through difference. [focus on artists operating in (and in some cases between) Canada, the United-States, and Britain. [...] A focus on painting, with its historicity and Western-centrism, provides more than a way to narrow the field of selection, becoming a particularly provocative medium through which to explore diaspora in its many variations and permutations." - pages 7-8
