This working paper presents the results of the European research project „UP2YOUTH – Youth as actor of social change?“. UP2YOUTH was funded within the European Union’s 6th framework programme as a thematic network from 2006 to 2009. The network consisted of 18 research institutes from 15 EU countries. Key elements are reviews of national and international research in the three themes; and workshops with policy makers, practitioners and researchers to validate intermediate findings. UP2YOUTH has analysed how young people contribute to social change by their actions and how policies can empower the agency of young people.
