Assessment on Environmental Impacts of Gold Mining in Wetthe-Phatshe Area of Thabeikkyin Township

The industry of gold mining plays an important role in economy of Myanmar. Gold mining activities are mostly found in Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, and Kachin State. The study area, Wetthe-Phatshe is belonging to Ohzon Village Tract in Thabeikkyin Township. The main aim of this research paper is to analyze the environmental impacts of gold mining in study area. In this research paper, the necessary data and material are collected by the field survey. To explore the strengths and weaknesses for the sustainable development in the mining area, SWOT analysis was used in this research. It can be found that activities of gold mining can provide the socio-economics opportunities for local people and others.
