Increasing the electric power facilities of a country is the general expansion of the economy and it is one of the principle elements of the development programs. This study is focused on the fundamental source of electricity such as generation, consumption , transmission and unit losses over the period of 1988-2016 and based on secondary data. The objective of the study is to examine the production, consumption and distribution of Myanmar Electric Power Sector. Much more electricity is needed for transmission and distribution upgrade. Immediate investment in combined cycle gas generators are needed to boost output. Hydropower installed capacities are increased year by year.
