The first half of the17th century is characterized by active building of new catholic churches and monasteries on the east territories (“kresach”) of the Polish Commonwelth. One of the most noticeable foundlings, Bernardine monastery in Dubno town in Volhynia, was initiated by Janusz Ostrogski, the last representative of this Ukrainian princely family, which was turned to the catholic faith. Unfortunately after a few repairs and alterations during 18 – 20th centuries this monastery complex reached to our time with the considerable losses of its architectural image.
