Multicast virtual circuit cell switches can be constructed with near optimal hardware complexity by using cell recycling. This simplicity however comes at the expense of multicast performance and fairness, with some recipients of multicast cells receiving superior quality-of-service to others. In this paper we show that by using simple traffic prioritisation, the performance and fairness of recycling multicast switches can be significantly improved. Simulation results confirm these improvements
