Epilogue: problems and future research in Feng Shui

Although Feng Shui has been built upon ancient Chinese philosophy, in particular, the Yi ling of Daoism, it has still been treated as a branch of metaphysics and being viewed by most people as something superstitious. Up to the present time, Feng Shui, cannot be considered a stream of philosophy to be studied in a department of philosophy or a foundation of environmental design in a department of architecture in universities, not to mention widespread research programs at the postgraduate level around the whole world. Why? The authors believe that it is due to three major issues that hinder the acceptance of Feng Shui as an orthodox discipline in the academic world. These problems are the inconsistencies or even conflicts between different schools, the arbitrary or subjective interpretations by masters, and the lack of empirical models for prediction with estimated accuracy
