Development and characterization of clay brick having superior thermal insulation property

Yapılan bu tez çalışmasında, TS 825 Binalarda Isı Yalıtım Kuralları standardına göre 1. ve 2. gün derece bölgelerinde, dış cephe duvarlarının ısı yalıtım şartlarını tek başına karşılayabilen hafifletilmiş tuğla bloğu geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Günümüzde binaların cephelerinde kullanılan ısı yalıtım malzemeleri genellikle ithal edildikleri için, ülkemizin ekonomisi olumsuz yönde etkilenmektedir. Geleneksel, ekonomik ve doğal bir yapı malzemesi olan tuğlanın termal özelliklerinin iyileştirilmesi ve sektörde kullanımının arttırılması hedeflenmiştir. Bu kapsamda, öncelikle tuğlanın ısı yalıtım özelliklerini iyileştirmek amacıyla, asma çubuğu talaşı ve kavak talaşı kullanılarak tuğla hamuru hafifletilmiştir. Atık malzemelerin tuğla özellikleri üzerindeki etkisini incelemek amacıyla laboratuvar ölçekli çalışma yapılarak uygun ikame oranı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, tuğla formunun üretilebilir sınırlar içerisinde ısıl olarak optimizasyonu yapılarak, geometrik değişiklikle yalıtım özellikleri iyileştirilmiştir.In this thesis, it is aimed to develop a lightweight clay brick block which can meet the heat insulation limits of the external walls in the 1st and 2nd temperature zones according to TS 825 Rules of Thermal Insulation of Buildings standard. Currently, the thermal insulation materials used on the facades of buildings for which they are usually imported, adversely affect the economy of our country. Clay bricks being a traditional, economic and natural construction material, improving its thermal properties will boost its utilization in the sector. In order to improve the thermal insulation properties of the bricks, the brick was lightened by using grapevine twig and poplar dusts. In order to investigate the effect of waste materials on brick properties, laboratory scale studies were carried out and the appropriate substitution rate was determined.
