Prijevod s komentarom: S posebnim naglaskom na terminologiju i kulturno-specifične pojmove

This thesis consists of six translations with an accompanying commentary. Excerpts from four books (A University Education, United States Foreign Policy & National Identity in the 21st Century, Bullying and Victimization Across the Lifespan and Stereotyping: The Politics of Representation) were translated from English into Croatian, and two (Sjećanje šume and Faust Vrančić: Portret izumitelja) from Croatian into English. The commentary focused primarily on terminological issues encountered during the process of translation. These issues included the translation of source-text terms which were in a one-to-many relationship with target-language equivalents, as well as the procedures used in the translation of culture-specific items and terms whose source-culture connotations had to be faithfully rendered.Rad se sastoji od šest prijevoda s popratnim komentarima. Izvaci iz četiriju knjiga (A University Education, United States Foreign Policy & National Identity in the 21st Century, Bullying and Victimization Across the Lifespan i Stereotyping: The Politics of Representation) prevedeni su s engleskog na hrvatski, a iz dviju knjiga (Sjećanje šume i Faust Vrančić: Portret izumitelja) s hrvatskog na engleski. Popratni su komentari prije svega posvećeni terminološkim problemima koji su nastupili tijekom prevođenja tekstova. Ti problemi podrazumijevaju prijevod termina iz izvornog teksta koji su u odnosu jedan-prema-više s ekvivalentima u ciljnom jeziku te prijevodne strategije primijenjene tijekom prevođenja kulturno specifičnih izraza i termina kod kojih je bilo važno sačuvati izvorne konotacije
